Network Engineer Role

Leidos is seeking a skilled Staff Network Engineer to support our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team in a critical digital modernization program for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network services within the Azure Cloud and data centers to meet end-user requirements.
  • Develop and deploy network configurations using Infrastructure as Code and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Collaborate with a multifunctional team to optimize and visualize network operations.
  • Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information and provide insights for improvement.
  • Evaluate network architectures to ensure alignment with cloud and network modernization strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of relevant experience or master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to start date.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating software-defined networking solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, proxies, routing, firewalls, and software-defined networking.
  • Experience implementing dual-stack networking and developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CI/CD tools and automation platforms like Ansible or Azure Functions.
  • Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements, including NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed technical team, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification, such as Security+ or CISSP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Experience with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM).
