Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Material Handler to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As the world's largest pork processor and leading producer of fresh pork products, we offer a unique opportunity for career growth and professional development.

Salary: $20.50 per hour plus a $1 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift positions

Job Description:

The Material Handler will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of products throughout our warehouse. Key responsibilities include safely operating material handling equipment, utilizing RF units and pick tickets, building stable and accurate pallet loads for shipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Utilize RF units and pick tickets to receive and put away product
  • Build stable and accurate pallet loads for shipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Consistently meet established company production and service level standards

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 3 full months of documented experience as a certified fork lift/heavy lift driver may be accepted in lieu of high school diploma
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or with heavy lifting preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds continually during shift
  • Must obtain proper powered industrial truck certifications during initial training phase
