Job Summary

Auburn Athletics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aquatic Safety Specialist to ensure the safety of pool patrons at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing safety and oversight for all activities in the facility, responding to emergencies, and assisting with operational duties such as guest check-in, event set-up/breakdown, and clean-up.

About the Position

This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable work experience and explore different interests while making a difference in the lives of our students, faculty, and staff. As an Aquatic Safety Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility, featuring an Olympic-size pool with three moveable bulkheads and an instructional pool used for various classes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safety and oversight for all activities in the facility

• Respond to emergencies and assist with first aid as needed

• Assist with set-up and breakdown for events, including guest check-in and clean-up

• Perform light custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment

Requirements

• Enrolled student at Auburn University

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/Certifications

• Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, summers, and holiday breaks

• Ability to swim 500 yards, treat water with diving brick for 1 minute, and retrieve object from bottom of diving well

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous lifeguarding experience

• Ability to work summers and breaks
