Job Purpose: This opportunity is designated for individuals who are currently employed in a similar capacity and wish to transfer to a different location within the organization. This includes voluntary transfers, employees facing surplus situations, and those from closing facilities. Consideration for transitioning into this role from another position will only be given if there are no surplus employees needing placement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors, hallways, stairs, and interiors of buildings. Operate standard cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners and buffers.
  • Wash windows, walls, and ceilings; polish brass and clean display equipment. Dust and maintain furniture.
  • Ensure sanitary conditions in restrooms.
  • Collect and transport waste from designated areas to appropriate disposal sites.
  • Assist in moving and rearranging furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Change light bulbs and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • May include outdoor responsibilities such as lawn care and snow removal.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and materials.
  • Adhere to all equal employment and non-discrimination policies, following applicable federal and state laws as well as school board regulations.

Salary Information:

Maximum Salary: $18.85
Minimum Salary: $16.79

Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least the eighth grade.
  • Minimum of six months experience in cleaning or custodial roles.
  • Possession of a valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver's license is optional.
  • Familiarity with cleaning methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Understanding of basic safety practices and procedures related to custodial work.
  • Ability to operate and maintain basic hand and power cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Capability to work with various cleaning chemicals and solutions.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and following instructions.
