Invasive Cardiac Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Invasive Cardiac Technologist to join our team at UPMC. As a key member of our imaging services team, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
Responsibilities- Ensure all images within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed
- Maintain continuing education and competency requirements for position
- Demonstrate a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect
- Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently
- Identify all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data
- Document patient history in electronic record as required
- Maintain point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation
- Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Exhibit a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems
- Demonstrate competency in functioning in the first assist position
- Foster an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process
- Administer contrast under the direction of the procedure physician
- Support other departments as directed or assigned
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS)
- ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist or RCIS as a Cardiovascular Specialist is required
- CPR certification is required
- ACLS certification is desired upon hire
- Successful completion of ACLS certification required within orientation period
- ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
