Job Summary

Summerhouse Ashton Manor is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Celebrations to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for planning and executing lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lifestyle programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and holidays, ensuring a festive and engaging atmosphere.
  • Recruit and develop additional resources to support services to residents, including volunteers and external partners.
  • Provide guidance and motivation to residents on individual and group activities, promoting personal growth and development.
  • Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submitting it to the Executive Director for final approval.
  • Develop and print the community newsletter, highlighting upcoming events and resident achievements.
  • Lead the lifestyle program team, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality delivery.
  • Coordinate the community library, ensuring access to a wide range of materials and resources.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare the preliminary draft of the Celebrations Operating Budget.
  • Organize and supervise a volunteer staff, ensuring effective support and engagement.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on topics of common interest, promoting community building and socialization.
  • Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Supervise staff of Recreation and Event Coordinators across multiple levels of service in a retirement community.
  • Participate in community in-services, staying up-to-date on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations, ensuring compliance with skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living requirements.
  • Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities that meet resident interests.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate mixed group activities, promoting socialization and community engagement.
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of activities programming and community relations.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program, acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of our volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, or Adult Education.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Two years supervisory/management experience.
