Medical Assistant Professional

Scribe-X is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support to our providers and delivering quality care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Greets and rooms patients in a professional and welcoming manner, ensuring a positive experience.
- Performs patient work-up, including gathering reason for visit, patient health history, and demographic information, and assists providers in performing medication reconciliation, verifying allergies, and documenting vitals.
- Communicates expected wait times to patients and providers, providing updates frequently to ensure a smooth experience.
- Participates in pre-visit procedures, including scrubbing patient charts, verifying historical labs, and updating lab results, to ensure accurate and timely care.
- Scrubbing for and addressing overdue health maintenance and gaps in care to assist in providing quality care and achieving quality metrics.
- Prepares exam rooms by setting up equipment according to visit type, stocks, preps, and disinfects exam rooms in between visits.
- Autoclaves instruments and equipment after each use, following standard procedures and protocol.
- Accurately and timely inputs patient information into EPIC, following standard procedures and protocol.
- Performs procedures within scope of responsibility, as directed by provider, following standard protocol.
- Performs phlebotomy for lab draws, as directed by provider, following standard protocol.
- Provides patients with after-visit summaries, verbally reviews the information, and ensures all questions are answered and next steps in care are understood.
- Answers phones with professionalism, collecting and recording patient information, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and patient information.
- Responds to new or refill prescription requests through EPIC.
- Conducts patient follow-up, including referral paperwork and assisting patients in scheduling additional medical tests or appointments.
- Communicates lab results as directed by the provider, either by letter or phone.
- Scans and indexes documentation into medical records, following Clinic standard protocols and procedures.
- Receives, documents, and routes messages to appropriate clinical staff, including responding/returning patient/caregiver phone calls to obtain missing or additional information.
- Actively participates in continuous process and quality improvement workflows.
- Attends and participates in committees and assists at other clinics as business needs require.
- Welcomes new team members and supports with training and development.
- Complies with Clinic standardized workflows, protocols, HIPAA, and safety guidelines.
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
- One year of related experience and/or training.
- Experience in primary care preferred.
- Previous EPIC or EHR experience required.
- Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification program, such as AAMA, NCCT, or CCMA.
- Responsible for maintaining an active and unencumbered medical assistant certification and BLS.
- Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish is highly preferred.
