Job Title: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Bibb County School District.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist will work with students with disabilities to evaluate their functional status and develop an appropriate treatment program to achieve short and long-range goals. The therapist will work under the supervision of administrative staff and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing individual occupational therapy programs for students at the school level.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate students' functional status and develop treatment programs to achieve measurable and realistic goals.
  • Work with students with disabilities to enhance their performance in the classroom.
  • Plan, organize, and implement individual occupational therapy programs for students at the school level.
  • Lead students in individual and group activities to improve daily living, fine motor, visual motor, visual perception, and sensor integration skills.
  • Attend in-service training and regular Occupational Therapy staff and team meetings to plan, evaluate, and assess treatment programs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy professional program.
  • Working knowledge of the theories, practice methods, and techniques of occupational therapy for psychosocial and physical rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the influence of disabilities, socio-cultural, and socioeconomic factors on students' ability to participate in occupations.
  • Ability to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the student.
  • Ability to interpret evaluation data and write a comprehensive report that reflects strengths and barriers to students' participation and occupational performance.
