Hour Variable Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred.

Candidates with 1.5 years of ED experience combined with 2 years of experience in other acute care settings may be considered with management approval.

Travel experience is not included in the minimum requirement.

License:
Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Approved by a board of nursing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS required; CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred Must-Have:
  • Experience with a wide range of patient types, including neonates to geriatrics, and minor to critical patients.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • Comfort with handling Sexual Assault cases and evidence collection.

Job Description:

  • Provide care for patients with a variety of conditions including sepsis, DKA, respiratory illnesses, GI bleeds, trauma, and stroke.
  • Manage a high trauma patient population, particularly during busy months, with conditions like stab wounds, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle collisions, drowning, and falls.
  • Act as part of a Complete Stroke Center team handling strokes up to 24 hours.
  • Care for pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and manage cardiac patients with access to cardiac catheter labs.
  • Execute ESI assessments and triage, discern between varying levels of patient acuity, and prioritize care appropriately.
  • Collect evidence in Sexual Assault cases in collaboration with permanent staff, using provided resources and support from a Quality Coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively within a team including ED Techs, Charge Nurses, and Phlebotomy staff, with 24/7 physician and NP coverage.
  • Utilize EPIC charting system and maintain functionality with Omnicell and Alaris equipment.
  • Float as needed within the Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas as a task nurse without taking full patient assignments.
  • Participate in an 8hour facility orientation, 4 hours of EDspecific education, and complete ontheunit training shifts.
  • Variable shifts with potential weekend work aligning with staffing requirements. No oncall duties except for occasional holidays depending on needs. This role requires a proactive, adaptable nurse ready to tackle various challenges in a fastpaced emergency department setting.
