About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at La Amistad Behavioral Health Services. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and monitor residents with daily living activities, demonstrating a sensitive and supportive attitude towards residents, families, employees, and management.
- Interact therapeutically with residents in one-to-one situations, community, and group meetings, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
- Act as a resident advocate, ensuring their rights and confidentiality are maintained, and providing a safe and respectful space for them to express themselves.
- Develop a basic understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses, recognizing behaviors associated with them and using proper intervention techniques to support residents.
- Evaluate and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of age-specific behaviors, motor skills, and psychological norms, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs of each resident.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field preferred.
- Prefer experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Technician working with children, adolescents, and/or adults.
- Not required to have a license or certification, but must demonstrate the ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and have a verification of absence of a criminal record on local, state, and federal levels.
- Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs; must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
