Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate students' communication skills, including articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, and literacy development.
  • Develop and implement prevention and intervention plans to support students' communication needs.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to implement strategies that focus on the interrelationship of language processes and literacy development.
  • Consult with parents, staff, and other stakeholders to develop their understanding of communication disorders and their impact on student achievement.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary educational teams and educational planning processes to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility, and develop services recommendations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on communicative disorders, assistive devices, and feeding techniques.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret various assessments and evaluation strategies to evaluate and modify interventions.
  • Provide services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offer students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience.
  • Coordinate meetings and processes for eligible students, including testing, screening, IEPs, parent conferences, and other related activities.
Requirements
  • Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License.
  • Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
  • Endorsement to work with students who have speech and language impairments.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions

The Speech Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, interacting with students, parents, and staff. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others.
