Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument Technician to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization, adhering to manufacturers' instructions and industry standards.
  • Coordinate instrument repair and maintenance with a contracted vendor, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Maintain instrument trays by recommending replacement purchases to your supervisor, ensuring optimal inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Perform routine maintenance on sterilizers, including cleaning and replacing paper rolls and graphs, and conduct biologic and chemical monitoring procedures.
  • Ensure the decontamination and assembly areas are kept in good order, adhering to infection control practices and Standard Precautions.
  • Perform other duties as directed, which may include assisting with patient care room cleaning, answering phones, and transporting patients.
Requirements
  • Minimum of six months' experience in a Sterile Processing/Operating Room environment as a CSPD Technician.
  • Instrument Techs with a background in an accredited sterile processing program and completion of an externship at our Central Sterilization Department will be considered.
  • Surgery Technician training and knowledge of surgical instruments, cleaning, and decontamination processes, as well as infection control practices.
  • Candidates must have completed a Certified Sterile Processing Program, Medical Terminology, and hold a BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Certification as a CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM is required.
