Description
As a full-time Mathematics Educator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive curriculum across various undergraduate mathematics courses. Your responsibilities will encompass teaching subjects such as developmental mathematics, algebra, trigonometry, statistics, precalculus, calculus, and differential equations. You will be tasked with creating and implementing engaging course materials that align with the institution's educational goals, as well as designing assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
In addition to teaching, you will provide academic guidance to students, participate in departmental and institutional initiatives, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the mathematics program. Your commitment to student success will be demonstrated through high-quality instruction and support both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Duties:
- Deliver courses as per the institution's teaching load requirements, including day, evening, weekend, and online classes.
- Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes student retention and success.
- Stay updated with advancements in mathematics and teaching methodologies.
- Develop meaningful assessments and evaluate student performance in accordance with departmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Be available for student consultations during designated office hours.
- Provide regular updates on student progress through the learning management system.
- Advising Responsibilities:
- Maintain accessible office hours for student support.
- Understand and communicate college policies, degree requirements, and transfer agreements.
- Guide students regarding career opportunities and college resources.
- Engage in recruitment activities and represent the college at events.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in student organizations and departmental events.
- Contribute to accreditation processes and institutional projects.
- Serve on committees and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Previous experience in college-level teaching is essential, along with a strong academic background and the ability to teach a diverse range of mathematics courses. A dedication to student engagement and innovative teaching practices is crucial.
