Position Overview
At El Paso Children's Hospital, we are expanding our services and are seeking dedicated professionals for our Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (Pediatric IMC). This role is essential for delivering specialized nursing care to children who are stable but require more attention than what is provided in general care settings.
Role Responsibilities
Nurses in this unit will be responsible for monitoring and managing pediatric patients who are recovering from surgeries, dealing with chronic illnesses, or facing complex medical challenges. Your focus will be on ensuring the stability of these young patients and guiding them towards a full recovery.
Key Skills Required
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
- Proficiency in using computers for documentation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand English at a level necessary for following instructions and safety protocols.
Experience and Qualifications
Work Experience: No prior experience is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current RN License to practice in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
Education:
A minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing is required, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
