Genetic Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team at MyMichigan Health. As a Genetic Counselor, you will provide genetic education, counseling, and support to patients and/or families who may be at risk for inherited conditions in the cancer genetics clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Assess family and medical history and counsel patients and/or families in cases of cancer genetic disorders.
- Provide education on potential hereditary cancer genes, associated cancer risks, and management options.
- Discuss benefits and limitations of genetic testing options and obtain informed consent from interested patients.
- Provide interpretation of genetic test results and communicate to patient and providers.
- Document in patient charts and develop follow-up recommendations for patient.
- Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling required.
- 3-5 years' experience in Cancer Genetics preferred.
- Board certified in Genetic Counseling at hire, preferred.
- Experience with public speaking preferred.
