Position Overview
The role involves supervising production lines or specific areas dedicated to processing poultry products and ensuring cleanliness in processing zones. The position entails working with live poultry, as well as raw and/or cooked items. Typical responsibilities may include leading operations for live hang, deboning, cutting, evisceration, marination, stacking, Multivac, overwrapping, and sanitation. The schedule generally consists of five to six days per week, with potential overtime based on production demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises activities at various stations along the production lines for poultry food processing.
- Complies with all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting unsafe practices and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and matters related to Process Safety Management.
- Ensures product quality standards are met in accordance with QA and USDA specifications.
- Monitors the functionality of all equipment within the departments.
- Maintains a clean and secure working environment.
A high school diploma or equivalent is not mandatory but is advantageous.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of six months of continuous employment with a single employer within the last three years is required.
Preferred Experience
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a production setting is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- In a plant setting:
- Exposure primarily includes wet and moist flooring, with metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May encounter temperatures ranging from 28 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle products at temperatures between 25 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May experience noise levels from 50 db to 110 db.
- May be exposed to dust, feathers, and various chemicals utilized in poultry processing.
- Must utilize and wear protective and safety equipment as required by the company.
- Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors at 10ppm and chlorine at less than 20 ppm.
- Ability to stand for extended periods is necessary.
- Work may involve lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, and pushing boxes on conveyor systems.
