Phlebotomy Specialist

At CSL Plasma, we are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process, in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
- Evaluate vein performance of the donor to identify possible problems and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
- Ensure the donation process is efficient and make adjustments when necessary to make the process a positive experience for the donor.
- May educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma.
- Assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff in the event of a donor reaction.
- Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process.
- Perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in the SOPs.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and create incident documentation.
- Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover.
- Collect arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing.
- Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications.
- Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
