Lead Therapist PTA/OTA Job Description

Vertis Therapy is seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Lead Therapist Occupational Therapy Assistant or Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team in Michigan City, IN.

This full-time position offers career advancement opportunities and flexibility in scheduling.

Job Summary

The Lead Therapist will be responsible for leading the therapy team, managing day-to-day operations, supervising therapy staff, and coordinating RUG management.

The successful candidate will also provide patient care, applying principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in their discipline to the patient population served.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure rehabilitation services are provided in compliance with Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate resident screening programs.
  • Serve as an advocate for meeting the rehabilitation needs of residents.
  • Coordinate attendance at care plan and departmental meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between therapy department, administrator, and nursing staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end billing.
  • Coordinate therapist schedules and arrange prn staffing as needed.
  • Communicate PT/OT/SLP schedules and changes to administration and nursing staff.
  • Coordinate the execution of the Restorative Program with nursing staff and therapy department.
  • Prepare the Rehab Department for a deficiency-free State Survey and act as department representative during the survey process.
  • Train staff in Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
  • Assist in identifying therapy needs of resident population.
  • Lead therapy team in implementing clinical programs.
  • Effectively communicate pertinent information from Vertis management and facility management to therapy team.
  • Assist Regional Manager in Performance Reviews, applicant interview process, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist Regional Manager in the orientation of new employees and contract therapists.
  • Support team development by encouraging individual growth, recognizing accomplishments, and providing a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Current license/certification in the state of Indiana.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in rehabilitation setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
