Assistant Teacher

Chicago Youth Centers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment that promotes learning and development in children.
Job SummaryThe Assistant Teacher will assist in providing a child-centered environment that fosters physical, social-emotional, and intellectual growth. You will work closely with Teachers to promote parent involvement and ensure that each child receives individualized attention and support.
Responsibilities- Assist in creating a learning environment that promotes learning through all developmental areas.
- Participate in completing developmental screenings, reviewing health records, and observing and recording children's behavior and development progress.
- Assist in providing individualized activities, small and large group activities, and developing weekly lesson plans.
- Assist in administering the ESI screening to determine the growth and development of each child.
- Assist in reviewing and evaluating children's medical records and consulting with social service staff to develop individual service plans.
- Chart and maintain records of individual child growth patterns.
- Conduct home visits to counsel parents regarding their children's development and behavior, and record daily meal attendance.
- Conduct conferences with parents to review children's classroom progress and elicit volunteer hours and parent participation in center programs.
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or BA Degree in any area with thirty (30) credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
- 1-2 years of related experience. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel and Outlook).
