Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Clerk to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform word processing, typing, and proofreading of letters, documents, and memorandums of varying complexity.
  • Welcome visitors, respond to inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate person.
  • Operate copying machines to duplicate various forms, bulletins, and notices.
  • Organize and maintain office files, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain inventories of books, supplies, and materials used in the school, and prepare requisitions for new materials as required.
  • Answer the telephone and perform other tasks as directed by the Principal.
Requirements
  • Civil Service eligibility.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Knowledge of standard alphabetic and numeric filing systems.
  • Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and symbols, and file material according to established procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to type, word process, and proofread letters and documents of average difficulty.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with supervision.
  • Willingness to work on a schedule that coincides with the hours of the school assigned.
  • Must be a resident of Springfield.
