Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and paperwork are completed.
  • Follow the given route as scheduled under the direction of the traffic manager.
  • Prepare the vehicle for operation, including clearing debris, snow, or other environmental or physical hazards from windows, roofs, hoods, etc.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions for routes or tasks.
  • Drive vehicles along designated and/or marked pathways, or as instructed by a spotter.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are operated safely and efficiently on specified routes.
  • Monitor and ensure all load securement policies are being followed.
  • Access and operate various styles of vehicles and controls, including pick-up trucks and semis.
  • Operate trailer hitches and ramps and place securements for equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, additional construction certifications/trainings preferred.
  • Valid Class A driver's license required.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report is required.
  • 2+ years of verifiable experience with equipment is required.
  • Hazmat endorsement with 5+ years' experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic logbooks is preferred.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.
  • Skilled at driving large vehicles.
  • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer.
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
  • Samsara experience preferred.
Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in equipment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and various environmental elements, including extreme temperatures, humidity, and wetness.

Employee regularly works around heavy equipment and/or moving machinery. Work will require use of many types of equipment, which will necessitate operation of foot controls and repetitive movements. At times, employee may be exposed to uneven ground surfaces, vibration from machinery, dust, chemicals, and heights.

Physical Requirements

Physical demand is medium, occasionally requiring ability to lift between 20-50lbs. While operating equipment, this position involves constantly sitting for extended periods. Frequently, operator would be required to bend and twist head and neck. Physical dexterity to operate equipment is required. Occasionally, operator is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and balance.

To perform job satisfactorily, operator would need to speak, hear, and visually have satisfactory near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision, and field vision.
