Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing age-appropriate, population-specific patient care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource for nursing standards, competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to develop strategies aimed at enhancing the quality of care and patient experience.
  • Utilize data effectively to meet care coordination needs across various settings in partnership with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Deliver direct and indirect care that is safe, ethical, patient- and family-centered, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based.
  • Ensure the safety of patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Prepare patients for encounters by following established protocols.
  • Exhibit competence in nursing clinical skills.
  • Manage medications and vaccines properly.
  • Reconcile medication lists and prepare prescription renewals.
  • Document accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond to patient inquiries using symptom-based protocols to classify urgency and recommend intervention options.
  • Triage walk-in patients and assist with medical emergencies.
  • Initiate patient and family education plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Conduct ordered point-of-care testing, including specimen collection and documentation.
  • Assist with patient flow and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with supervisors.
  • Provide guidance to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
  • Mentor new and existing staff based on their skill sets.
  • Participate in meetings and serve on various organizational committees.
  • Support compliance and staff development initiatives.
  • Complete assigned daily, weekly, or monthly tasks related to health center operations.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of medical equipment by following manufacturer instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in New York State.
  • A.A.S. degree or higher from an accredited nursing program.
  • Preferred minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to travel throughout the network.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and electronic medical records.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
