We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, ensuring accurate and efficient registration and scheduling processes, and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and family members, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Efficiently and accurately gather and input patient demographic and financial information, explaining insurance benefits and collecting co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis of each case and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process at the end of each shift.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy, introducing yourself, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communicating effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
- One year of related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front-line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail, and/or customer service experience required.
- Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred.
This role involves sedentary work, with occasional walking or standing. You will work with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. You will have an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases and hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment.
