Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to join our team at Schwan's Company. As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the production and packaging of our frozen dessert products, ensuring that they meet company and USDA requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise production and packaging operations to ensure efficient and effective production processes.
- Train and develop subordinates to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
- Conduct interviews and hire qualified employees, following EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines.
- Manage employee performance and skills development, conduct performance appraisals, and administer disciplinary action as needed.
- Ensure safety, housekeeping, and policy administration are maintained at the highest level.
- Work closely with the USDA representative on site to ensure all company, state, and federal requirements for food safety are met.
- Review and sign off on all Quality Assurance and HACCP documentation.
- Monitor product quality, usage, waste, product counts, and weights to ensure performance and attainment.
- Participate in and support Global Manufacturing Food Safety Initiative programs, implementation, and compliance.
Requirements
- High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years related work experience, preferably in food industry manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience, with minimum of 2 years in supervision.
- Intermediate personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate knowledge of robotics used in production.
- Ability to effectively supervise line employees.
- Strong communication and reasoning skills to provide a positive work environment.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Knowledge of USDA, FDA, and BRC regulations preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of bakery/dough processes preferred.
