REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 35 years of current experience in cow/calf operations
  • Familiarity with both ranching and farming; experience with Grain Cart or Truck during Harvest and Air Seeder is preferred
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, reliability, and a proactive team player attitude
  • Proficient in animal health management with hands-on experience in calving, feeding, and veterinary care
  • Ability to assess the health of cows and calves and identify issues promptly
  • General knowledge of grain production equipment and willingness to assist during peak seasons
  • Skills in routine maintenance and basic repairs of equipment, as well as maintaining a clean and organized workspace
  • Experience in feeding, calving, and fencing is advantageous

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a dedicated Ranch/Farm Assistant for a multifaceted agricultural operation in South Dakota. This operation encompasses both cow/calf ranching and crop farming, with a primary focus on the cattle herd. The ideal candidate should be versatile and ready to engage in a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities will include working with commercial cow/calf operations, overseeing calving, and ensuring animal health through monitoring, diagnosing, and treating as necessary. Duties also involve checking on the herd, maintaining water and salt supplies, and repairing fences.

While the cattle herd is the central focus, the candidate should also be prepared to assist with crop farming activities as needed.

The successful applicant will possess a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, dependability, independence, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to teamwork, all aimed at enhancing the operation.
