Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Bellevue School District. The successful candidate will work with students with motor disabilities in special and regular education classrooms, from preschool through grade twelve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and select caseload in cooperation with the school team.
  • Adapt and modify equipment and materials for students with motor disabilities.
  • Complete special education compliance paperwork, including evaluation reports and Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Participate in the referral and evaluation process to determine special education and related services for students.
  • Adapt the professional role of the occupational therapist to the public schools.
  • Direct the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities.
  • Work cooperatively with regular education teachers, paraeducators, and other student services staff.
  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Use student data to modify therapy or instruction and improve student learning.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community.
  • Participate in site-based decision-making processes.
Requirements
  • Possess or qualify for a valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate endorsed as an Occupational Therapist.
  • BS degree from an American Occupational Therapy Association approved program.
  • Valid license as an occupational therapist in Washington State.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds and will be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals.
