Urban Sprouts Child Development Center is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team in providing healthy and nutritious meals for children. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and development of our young students.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and organized Executive Chef to oversee the planning and preparation of delicious and nutritious meals for our students. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be certified in food handling and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare weekly menus that meet all CACFP requirements
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for all classrooms and staff
  • Serve meals to each classroom on time and at the appropriate temperature
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and workspace, including all food storage areas
  • Maintain health and sanitation guidelines and ensure serve-safe practices
  • Work with assistants or volunteers to organize and store groceries and non-food items
  • Clean and sanitize lunch carts and buckets daily
  • Assist with washing and sanitizing dishes
  • Develop positive relationships with families, children, and staff through respectful communication
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to accommodate dietary needs and preferences
  • Stay up-to-date with current best practices and policies regarding serve-safe, CACFP, and national nutrition guidelines
  • Partner with administration and Urban Farming to incorporate fresh, locally grown produce into menus when possible
  • Participate in nutrition education activities for staff, parents, and children
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience in a lead kitchen role
  • Food handlers certification
  • CACFP training (provided by Urban Sprouts)
  • CPR/first aid certification (can be obtained through Urban Sprouts)
  • Excellent organizational, cleanliness, and adaptability skills
