Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Buyer to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a Pharmacy Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the pharmaceutical inventory in the assigned hospital, including purchasing of pharmaceuticals and related products, overseeing receipt and placement of these items in stock, and optimizing pharmacy inventory both in the facility pharmacy and automated cabinets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including purchasing, receipt, and placement of items in stock
  • Optimize pharmacy inventory in the facility pharmacy and automated cabinets
  • Ensure all pharmaceutical products are appropriately labeled with barcodes, including repackaging of products for patient administration
  • Work with the director and clinical team to ensure formulary compliance and maintain contract compliance
  • Assist the automation coordinator or individual in similar role with respect to Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADU) inventory management, including maintenance of controlled substance inventory and handling requests for addition of new items to the pharmacy inventory
  • Assist in training personnel on inventory handling and overseeing workflow in the pharmacy when the tech supervisor or pharmacy manager is unavailable
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, or Supply Chain Logistic, preferred
  • 2 years of hospital pharmacy buyer experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, preferred
  • National Certification (CPhT)
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Purchasing Manager Certificate American Purchasing Society, preferred
