Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in comprehending, outlining, documenting, and enhancing manufacturing workflows and parameters for products. This position also ensures that all manufacturing machinery adheres to safety regulations. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates extensively with various internal departments, including Sales, Research & Development, Production, Quality Assurance, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Customer Support. This role demands a proactive and innovative individual capable of thinking creatively, grasping the overall vision, and delineating the strategic steps necessary to achieve targeted outcomes.

The Manufacturing Engineer will undertake project management duties, which include calculating the required material volumes, coordinating the delivery of materials for specific production schedules, and preparing trial estimates. Effective communication and collaboration with R&D, Production, and Quality teams, along with interfacing with customers to ensure timely production, are essential components of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, define, and document current manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and cost-reduction initiatives to refine manufacturing processes and assist in the development of new product processes.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance manufacturing workflows to boost efficiency and create operational guidelines for changeovers and production.
  • Engage with and train operators to refine and clarify manufacturing processes while ensuring the Quality Management System (QMS) is current and effective.
  • Compile product and process reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Collaborate with Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and suppliers on various projects.
  • Support the installation of new machinery and engage in Value Stream Mapping activities.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering – Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical, with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical expertise in pumps, mixing apparatus, and filtration systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of production methodologies and techniques.
  • Familiarity with industrial electronics.
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Skilled in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, data analysis software, and related tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in chemical handling or thermal drying processes.
  • Familiarity with web handling and roll-to-roll coating of various materials, including paper, films, or foils, as well as glass manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles (green belt certification).
  • Project management experience.
