ISS Foster Carer Opportunity

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ISS Foster Carer to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people with challenging behaviors or complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality foster care in accordance with the principles and standards expected throughout Scotland
  • Work closely with the child's family and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are met
  • Manage the child's behavior by setting appropriate boundaries and promoting healthy emotional, physical, and intellectual development
  • Be able to respond to the child's needs using therapeutic parenting skills
  • Have an understanding of the impact of early trauma, poor attachment, and history of child abuse on a child's health and well-being
Requirements:
  • Direct experience of caring for children and young people in a residential care setting
  • SVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
  • Existing experience as a foster carer or direct work with vulnerable children and young people
  • Understanding of vulnerable children and young people's varying needs and how to deal with emergency situations
  • Ability to work as part of a professional care team within your own home
