Pain Management Physician Job Overview

Aya Locums is seeking a skilled Pain Management Physician to fill a temporary locum tenens position. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pain mechanisms, assessment techniques, and treatment options. They will be responsible for evaluating patients, designing individualized treatment plans, and performing pain-relief procedures. The physician will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients experiencing acute or chronic pain, review medical history, and perform physical exams to diagnose pain sources.
  • Design individualized treatment plans that may include medications, physical therapy, and interventional procedures.
  • Perform pain-relief procedures, such as epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, and radiofrequency ablations.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust the plan as necessary, ensuring patient safety and the management of side effects.
  • Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options, and post-care management strategies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency training program in anesthesiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, or a related field accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • Fellowship training in pain management, focusing on advanced pain management techniques and interventional procedures.
  • Board certification in pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR), or the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Texas.
  • At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
