Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Architect to join our team at VAE, Inc. as a Lead IP Network Engineer. This is a full-time consulting position that focuses on customer-facing (production) infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the gateway, routers, and switches for the AFINC program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate data center migrations
  • Design, engineer, and implement associated projects
  • Develop LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations, and firewall technologies
  • Experience with Cisco routing/switching platforms and IOS
  • Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GbE VLAN, and SONET
  • Implement converged networks to include VoIP, VTC, and QoS methods
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures, and WAN/LAN connectivity issues
  • Configure and deploy VoIP components
  • Knowledge and experience with Juniper platforms
  • General knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed-upon solutions and strategies
  • Troubleshoot technology issues using various internal and external resources
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management
Requirements
  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience with Cisco platforms
  • CCNP certification (CCIE is a plus)
  • Technical experience in Microsoft Windows Server 2K3/2K8, UNIX/Linux (SUN/Redhat), or database (Oracle/MS SQL)
  • High degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets
  • Refined critical thinking skills, self-starter, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable, and reliable
  • Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a Business Management or MIS related field
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
