License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Must-Have: EPIC experience for first-time travelers
Job Description:
- Work in an Ortho Neuro Surgical mixed acuity unit with a focus on Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical patient care.
- Provide care for surgical cases, including Urology, Orthopedic, Neuro/Spine, and general medical conditions.
- Manage patient ratios of RN to PCU 1:4, supported by a charge nurse, flex nurse, and CNA.
- Perform tasks such as reading/interpreting cardiac strips, chest tube and trach care, NGT tube management, JP drain management, line management, wound care, medication administration, and others.
- Engage in drip titration for medications like Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Levophed.
- Utilize a pod structure for patient care with 8 patients per pod, staffed with 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide.
- Employ the EPIC charting system, with prior approval from Manager needed for exceptions.
- Participate in a 4-weekend work rotation within a 6-week schedule, with potential for every weekend work based on availability.
- Complete a comprehensive 4-day orientation including supervised shifts with a preceptor and classroom learning.
- Adhere to compliance and quality standards in documentation and patient care practices.
