Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our General Surgery team at South Shore Health. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Attending Physicians, surgical residents, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage patients with surgical conditions under the medical direction of the MD Chair of Surgery and the Executive Director of APCs.
  • Perform daily patient rounds, follow up on all patients and consults, and provide physical exams, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and order routine labs, diagnostic tests, and consults.
  • First assist in the operating room for general surgery coverage and other surgical subspecialties.
  • Perform a variety of procedures, including phlebotomy, insertion and removal of chest tubes, management of pleurovacs, surgical drains, percutaneous tubes, insertion and management of NGT, DHT, foley catheters, and simple wound closures.
  • Provide patient education and participate in the education of surgical residents, fellow PAs, nurses, and students.
  • Perform BLS and ACLS measures as needed.
  • Be the primary responding clinician receiving pages from the nursing staff regarding patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA recognized Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission or Education for Physician Assistant (ACR-PA).
  • PA - Physician Assistant license.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • ATLS - preferred.
Work Schedule

3-12 hour shifts per week, 6:30pm-6:30am, 3(12 hour) shifts per week.
