Position Summary:

We currently have an opening for a Field Mechanic. This role is essential for the upkeep, repair, and diagnostics of various construction machinery at job sites. The Field Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring that all equipment and vehicles operate efficiently and safely, thereby supporting the success of our construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair of Equipment:
    • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on construction machinery, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, and generators.
    • Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems and perform repairs on-site or coordinate with external facilities as necessary.
    • Keep precise records of all maintenance and repair work, ensuring adherence to company standards and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
    • Employ diagnostic tools to detect and resolve equipment issues.
    • Respond swiftly to machinery breakdowns on-site to reduce downtime and maintain project schedules.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring that maintenance and repair tasks meet OSHA and company safety standards.
    • Perform safety inspections on equipment and report any potential hazards or violations.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Manage an inventory of essential tools, parts, and supplies needed for field repairs.
    • Order and replenish parts as necessary to minimize disruptions to project workflows.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Coordinate with project managers, equipment operators, and other field personnel to schedule maintenance and reduce impacts on project timelines.
    • Provide training and guidance to equipment operators on the proper use and maintenance of machinery.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school certification in mechanics or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, ideally in the commercial construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction machinery, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Certifications in equipment repair and maintenance are advantageous (e.g., ASE, CAT).
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.).
  • Comfortable working in diverse weather conditions and on active construction sites.

Work Hours:

Minimum of 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as necessary until tasks are completed. Shifts (day, swing, and night) and work assignments may vary as required by management.

Safety Responsibilities:

Must be familiar with and comply with Hogan's safety program and OSHA regulations. Must maintain a fitness level sufficient to handle required workloads. Must complete Hogan certification before operating equipment. Must be vigilant about personal safety and the safety of others. Actively participate in Daily Production & Safety meetings each morning.
