About the Role

Farnsworth Group is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a key role that will drive the success of our clients and projects. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of HVAC and building systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, and educational facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Prepare accurate construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for HVAC and building systems, including equipment selection and layouts.
  • Project Administration: Perform construction administration, including submittal reviews and project revisions during construction.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership, mentoring, and coordination of the production staff, and interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project completion.
  • Code Research and Application: Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Business Development: Assist in business development activities, including writing fee proposals and conducting project scoping walks with potential clients.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in HVAC and plumbing design for buildings.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineering License (PE) is required.
  • Management Experience: Prior management or mentoring of staff required.
  • Design Experience: Strong familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience with Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously.
