Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician I to join our team. As a Patient Care Technician I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care activities and clerical duties as needed
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and fulfill designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care
- Obtain and maintain the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure
- Process specimens and provide timely transport to the laboratory
- Perform point of care patient testing and maintain point of care instruments
- Assist in problem solving, trouble shooting, and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students
- Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths
- Release and confirm ordered tests to appropriate departments
- Coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests
- Participate in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience
- Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
