Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Endoscopy

Company Overview: Washington Gastroenterology is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and longevity of our patients through the prevention, detection, and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders.

Role Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our endoscopy surgery center on a part-time basis. The LPN will deliver direct patient care in alignment with physician directives, established nursing practices, and legal standards of nursing within Washington State.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Gather relevant patient history during the admission process.
  • Continuously evaluate patient needs from admission through discharge, communicating essential information to the healthcare team.
  • Act as a patient advocate to ensure safe and efficient procedures and high-quality care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
  • Administer IV therapy, including initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation.
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations, including life support measures.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and suggest enhancements for patient care.
  • Stay informed about medication usage, preparation, and contraindications, particularly in relation to gastrointestinal and emergency scenarios.
  • Perform admission, procedural assistance, and recovery tasks as assigned.
  • Accurately collect and label specimens, ensuring proper pathology reconciliation.
  • Implement infection prevention protocols and uphold patient safety standards.
  • Care for and maintain all medical equipment appropriately.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from an accredited LPN nursing program.
  • Current LPN license in Washington State.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Preferred experience in clinical, hospital, or gastroenterology nursing.
  • IV therapy experience is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.
  • Capacity to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in electronic medical record data entry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel as needed.
  • Assist patients with mobility and positioning.
  • Manipulate medical instruments and grasp small objects.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Push/pull weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional local travel may be required.
