Job Summary

As a key member of the Waste Management team, the Laboratory Hazardous Waste Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient daily operation of the landfill laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all laboratory personnel, data, and quality control to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement waste analysis plans and RCRA regulations to ensure accurate and reliable testing results.
  • Review special waste to determine acceptability for hazardous waste disposal and ensure compliance with WM policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory functions as assigned and facilitate the receipt of materials for treatment and disposal.
  • Apply appropriate treatment and disposal methodologies to ensure the health and safety of employees and the environment.
  • Oversee personnel needs of the laboratory, including selecting, coaching, and training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions, and work with other supervisors/managers to coordinate services.
  • Keep district manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring attention and make personal contact with customers to assist with questions and concerns.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization of laboratory work areas and related storage areas.
  • Conduct and/or attend periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and provide training and presentations as needed.
  • Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Laboratory Hazardous Waste Manager will have direct supervision of approximately 5-12 full-time employees, including Wastewater Treatment Operators.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Seven years of relevant work experience in addition to education requirement.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements: None required.
  • Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Work Environment

The Laboratory Hazardous Waste Manager will work in a laboratory setting with a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short Term Disability, as well as a Stock Purchase Plan, Company match on 401K, and more.
