Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Lead to join our team at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. As a Medical Technologist Lead, you will be responsible for performing complex laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring the accuracy of test results, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Perform moderately to highly complex laboratory tests and analyses, including transfusion service, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, and urinalysis.
  • Ensure the accuracy of test results and related analyses, adhering to established standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate and maintain standard laboratory instruments and equipment, exercising independent judgment to monitor and control test conditions, specimen quality, and instrument function.
  • Document and deliver test results, consistently demonstrating CHI Franciscan Health's Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence.
  • Assume additional lead responsibilities, including receiving reports, coordinating scheduling, resolving workflow issues, and serving as a resource for testing protocols or instrument troubleshooting.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college/university, including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Technologist program or equivalent certification.
  • Two years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Clinical Microscopy within the past ten years.
  • Meets the acceptable route of Categorical certification through ASCP or NCA in the area for which the candidate is applying.
