Trailer Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team at Transportation Equipment Network. As a Trailer Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on trailers, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Brake Maintenance: Perform basic air brake maintenance, including brake jobs, S-cam bushing replacements, brake chamber replacements, and air valve replacements.
  • Suspension and Axle Maintenance: Demonstrate a basic understanding of spring and air ride suspensions, proper alignment procedures, R&R torque arms, equalizers, and springs. Complete knowledge of axle wheel end assemblies, including proper installation of hub and drum assemblies, bearings, seals, and races.
  • Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot and repair all aspects of electrical wiring systems, including lights, 7-way receptacles, interior lighting, and switches.
  • Body and Undercarriage Maintenance: Perform minor body repairs and maintenance, including R&R body side panels and posts, R&R swing and roll-door panels, R&R roof and floor sections. Demonstrate the ability to perform minor undercarriage maintenance and repairs, including R&R crossmembers, ICC bumpers, spring hangers, dolly wing plates, dolly legs, and bracing.
  • Welding: Demonstrate the ability to weld steel components from various positions.
  • Tools and Equipment: Possess proper hand tools and equipment to perform all tasks. Major shop equipment and large shop tools will be provided by Transportation Equipment Network.
