Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Machinist Specialist to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment to manufacture high-precision parts and mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture parts and mechanisms to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
- Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points.
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
- Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods.
- Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the work day.
- Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups.
- Must be able to use common shop hand tools and cordless drill motors.
- Must be able to assemble parts and assemblies with the use of common hand tools.
- CNC programmer and experience operating NX software.
- Ability to understand and work with knowledge of principles and Lean manufacturing disciplines.
- 3/5 axis CNC is required and a familiarity with HAAS control would be preferred.
- Manually programming CNCs from 2D drawings.
- Experience with G code.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining a part(s).
- Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Strong understanding of materials selection and machining processes.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
