Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program (LAPP) is a non-profit community behavioral health center dedicated to providing quality behavioral healthcare to adults and adolescents for over 56 years. Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals living with mental health issues and substance use disorders.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Counselor to join our team at our Pataskala location. The successful candidate will conduct behavioral health assessments, implement treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling practices to clients with mental health and/or substance use related barriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling services to clients in individual or group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance issues, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate substance abuse prevention programs for diverse populations, including schools, community groups, and at-risk individuals.
  • Conduct counseling in jail, in-patient residential facilities, and other remote community locations.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge using person-centered practices.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
  • Meet with families, probation officers, caseworkers, police, or other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Refer clients or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum of an associate's degree in behavioral health.
  • Licensed as a LCDCII or LSW.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated counseling experience in behavioral health.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • General computer and office-equipment knowledge.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients.
  • Treat clients and staff with respect.
