This role is integral to the preparation and delivery of healthy meals for students, ensuring a safe and nutritious dining experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the daily hot lunch service, adhering to portion control, presentation standards, and quality assurance.
- Plan and execute cooking schedules to meet meal service timelines, ensuring efficient batch cooking without preparing excessive quantities at once.
- Order food and supplies based on menu requirements and production documentation.
- Conduct temperature checks during meal service to guarantee food is served at the appropriate temperature, documenting results accurately.
ADHERENCE TO SANITATION STANDARDS:
- Comply with state, federal, and local food safety regulations as outlined by management.
- Assist in maintaining a comprehensive sanitation cleaning schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment.
- Keep accurate production records and temperature logs, contributing to kitchen operations as needed.
- Fulfill all mandated food handling certification requirements.
- Participate in weekly kitchen meetings led by the head chef or manager.
- Consistently follow all policies and procedures set forth by Whitsons Culinary Group.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times, supporting the overall mission and objectives of Whitsons Culinary Group. Comply with all food handling certification requirements and perform additional tasks as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate effectively in English to understand and execute job responsibilities. A minimum of one year of professional food service experience is preferred. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements for this position include:
- Regularly standing and walking throughout the workday.
- Using hands and fingers to operate kitchen tools and equipment.
- Occasionally lifting and moving items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities to include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is primarily located in a kitchen setting, with moderate to loud noise levels and exposure to varying temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. Movement in and out of storage areas is required. The responsibilities outlined are representative of the types of tasks that may be performed, and Whitsons Culinary Group reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
