Overview:
This is a Full-Time role within the National Science Foundation (NSF) managed United States Antarctic Program (USAP) as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). The Facilities Operations Manager is tasked with the strategic planning, oversight, and implementation of maintenance initiatives under the guidance of the Amentum Facilities Manager. This position involves deployment to various Antarctic stations, where direct supervision of Facilities Maintenance teams and operations is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold accountability for personal, team, community, and project safety as a primary focus.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and effectively communicate findings.
- Establish and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring safety remains the top priority.
- Provide direct oversight in executing preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), emergency responses, and operational support tasks.
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and operational management of the Facilities Maintenance Department.
- Deliver status updates to management regarding changes in scheduling, resource allocation, safety protocols, and equipment performance.
- Ensure that all personnel are trained in environmental, safety, and health programs, as well as relevant operational procedures.
- Monitor work order completion and maintain data integrity in management systems.
- Deliver weekly status reports to management regarding maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with established procedures, safety standards, and project timelines.
- Support the development of operational plans, budgets, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure adherence to operational procedures and to identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the hiring process for contract personnel, including candidate selection.
- Coordinate with project teams to facilitate construction initiatives and address maintenance concerns.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of maintenance work and documentation.
- Ensure accurate reporting of labor and material usage.
- Maintain professional communication with team members and external stakeholders.
- Address personnel issues in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Handle confidential matters with the utmost professionalism.
- Provide timely feedback on performance and ensure attendance at required training sessions.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive safety program.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree required; or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- A minimum of eight years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in project and personnel management.
- Capable of interpreting technical documents and maintenance manuals.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness to deploy to remote locations for extended periods.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and working in extreme conditions.
