About the Role

The CDL Class A Tanker Driver will perform duties associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Covanta facilities and client sites. Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment, including tankers, tractor trailers, roll-off, vacuum trucks, vans, and flat-beds.

Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner, following DOT regulations and company policies and regulations.
  • Drive commercial vehicles to pick up and transport waste to a designated location safely, while meeting scheduled appointments and following all DOT regulations.
  • Ensure placarding of the vehicle meets DOT regulations.
  • Maintain paperwork, including expense reports, timesheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED preferred.
  • Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations.
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience.
  • Tanker CDL Driver preferred.
  • CDL Class A with Tanker endorsements required.
  • HazMat endorsement is preferred but not required.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to use a tablet for E-Logs.
Physical Demands of the Role
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions.
Shift
  • Monday-Friday day shift with occasional Saturdays.
