Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Automation Control Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of control systems that enhance manufacturing and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and resolve issues related to control programs.
  2. Modify programs as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of machinery.
  3. Utilize control devices for troubleshooting equipment effectively.
  4. Develop action plans to address significant technical challenges.
  5. Collaborate with machine vendors, maintenance teams, and process engineers to create robust automated PLC control and drive systems that meet production objectives.
  6. Serve as a primary contact for troubleshooting support.
  7. Leverage control systems to maximize machine availability.
  8. Establish and manage protocols for system access, backups, and data recovery.
  9. Conduct electrical troubleshooting and wiring tasks.
  10. Enhance existing control systems for improved performance.
  11. Perform adjustments and troubleshooting on robotic systems.
  12. Maintain a comprehensive inventory of machine software within the designated area, ensuring timely updates.
  13. Coordinate with the IT department to keep line servers up-to-date.
  14. Adhere to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and all relevant safety standards.
  15. Ensure compliance with OSHA, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and automotive industry regulations.
  16. Identify environmental aspects within the department and support Environmental Management Plan (EMP) objectives through training and communication.

Work Environment:

Compliance with safety regulations and proper operating procedures is mandatory, including the use of required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications:

A two-year degree in Electrical Engineering with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with two years of related experience.

Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of logic control and the ability to manipulate logic for troubleshooting.
  • Application of statistical techniques and mathematical operations.
  • Proficiency in various control communication protocols.
  • Strong grasp of electrical concepts.

Special Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience with Siemens S7 Programming.
  • Familiarity with TIA Portal Programming.
  • Knowledge of RS Logix 500 and Studio 5000.
  • HMI Programming experience.
  • Robotics expertise.
