Position Summary:
The Automation Control Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of control systems that enhance manufacturing and assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to control programs.
- Modify programs as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of machinery.
- Utilize control devices for troubleshooting equipment effectively.
- Develop action plans to address significant technical challenges.
- Collaborate with machine vendors, maintenance teams, and process engineers to create robust automated PLC control and drive systems that meet production objectives.
- Serve as a primary contact for troubleshooting support.
- Leverage control systems to maximize machine availability.
- Establish and manage protocols for system access, backups, and data recovery.
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and wiring tasks.
- Enhance existing control systems for improved performance.
- Perform adjustments and troubleshooting on robotic systems.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of machine software within the designated area, ensuring timely updates.
- Coordinate with the IT department to keep line servers up-to-date.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and all relevant safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and automotive industry regulations.
- Identify environmental aspects within the department and support Environmental Management Plan (EMP) objectives through training and communication.
Work Environment:
Compliance with safety regulations and proper operating procedures is mandatory, including the use of required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Qualifications:
A two-year degree in Electrical Engineering with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with two years of related experience.
Additional Skills:
- Understanding of logic control and the ability to manipulate logic for troubleshooting.
- Application of statistical techniques and mathematical operations.
- Proficiency in various control communication protocols.
- Strong grasp of electrical concepts.
Special Requirements:
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience with Siemens S7 Programming.
- Familiarity with TIA Portal Programming.
- Knowledge of RS Logix 500 and Studio 5000.
- HMI Programming experience.
- Robotics expertise.
