Senior Manager, Energy Project Development Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Energy Project Development to join our team at Walmart. This role will be responsible for assessing project feasibility of on-site Distributed Generation (DG) projects, leading early-stage site development, and applying technologies such as solar, energy storage, and fuel cells to operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess project feasibility of on-site DG projects, considering factors such as energy market dynamics, internal operational metrics, project economics, incentives, regulations, potential risk, permitting requirements, and project timelines.
  • Lead early-stage site development of on-site DG projects, collaborating with stakeholders, consultants, and engineers.
  • Apply technologies such as solar, energy storage, and fuel cells to operational challenges, including access to power, resilience, operational savings, and environmental benefits.
  • Translate an understanding of energy markets into actionable development strategies that deliver economic value and/or address heightened needs for energy security and reliability at critical assets.
  • Support internal technology team and external software companies by providing subject matter expertise to implement software solutions aimed to identify and prioritize key areas for deployment of energy assets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, environmental science, or related area and 3 years' experience in energy project development.
  • Or 5 years' experience in engineering, renewable energy, environmental science, or related area, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Distributed energy project development, specifically solar and energy storage, Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (power system emphasis desired).
