Nuvance Health is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Worker to join our team. As a Mental Health Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or physician.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living, provide personal care, emotional support, and perform more complex clinical skills under the direction of an RN.
- Provide care appropriate to the patient's condition and age, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharge, and transfers.
- Perform morning and evening care, including bed baths, showers, oral hygiene, and other general care as necessary.
- Provide general assistance, such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, and assisting with meals.
- Run sensory, recreation, activity, and/or cognitive stimulation groups as assigned.
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure, and intake-output.
- Report patient complaints of pain and observe patient mental and physical conditions, reporting any changes to supervising RN.
- High school graduate; actively enrolled in a college program for psychiatric or health-related field preferred.
- One year prior experience in a psychiatric setting preferred; preferred past experience as a nurse's aide.
- BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
- CPI Certification within 30 days of hire.
