Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our team at North American Millwright Services, Inc. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for planning, supervising, and performing work on major repairs to automotive and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute major repairs to automotive and heavy equipment, including engine overhauls, tune-ups, and brake repairs.
  • Inspect equipment and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor mechanics at various experience levels.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering, and other systems.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance and annual inspections.
  • Resolve safety defects promptly and take vehicles out of service as needed.
  • Conduct final inspections of repairs by others.
  • Track vehicle registration and insurance.
  • Ensure all service work is documented.
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Take weekly inventory of parts and other essential shop items.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Diesel technician or mechanic degree a plus.
  • 3 years of relevant experience during the past 5 years, including diesel.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Valid driver's license, CDL holder preferred.
  • Ability to pass DOT exam.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Math and computer skills.
  • Self-motivated and a team player.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk.
  • Exposure to hot/cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout multiple NAMS facilities.
